Our Privacy Commitment

Rerun is a local-first application. This means:

  • All screen recordings are captured and stored locally on your Mac
  • OCR processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework
  • AI-powered search uses on-device models - no data leaves your computer
  • We have no servers that receive or store your personal data

Information We Don't Collect

Unlike many applications, Rerun does not collect:

  • Screen recordings
  • OCR text extracted from your screen
  • Search queries or browsing history
  • Personal files or documents
  • Keystroke data or input patterns
  • Location data

Information We May Collect

To improve Rerun and provide support, we may collect minimal, anonymized information:

  • Crash Reports: If you opt-in, anonymous crash reports may be sent to help us fix bugs. These contain no personal data or recording content.

Data Storage

All Rerun data is stored locally in your Mac's Application Support directory. This includes:

  • Video recording files
  • OCR text database
  • Application settings and preferences

You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time through the app or by removing the application folder.

Third-Party Services

Rerun uses Apple's built-in frameworks for all core functionality:

  • Vision Framework: For on-device OCR processing
  • Core ML: For on-device AI features
  • ScreenCaptureKit: For screen capture functionality

These frameworks process data entirely on your device and do not transmit information to Apple or any third party.

macOS Permissions

Rerun requires certain macOS permissions to function:

  • Screen Recording: Required to record your screen activity
  • Accessibility (optional): May be used for enhanced window detection

These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and all data remains on your device.

Children's Privacy

Rerun is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
